Raistlin was a terrible character, but at least he wasn't super dumb for no reason, like, oh, every single other character in those books. There was no real need to make him a Mary Sue, either, just being able to find his ass with both hands would have put him far above everyone else.
It didn't hurt that he told that alignment system AND those gods to fuck off and die, although actually following through was a bit much. Actually, I take that back. It was entirely justified. The best moment in dragonlance is when he went scorched earth and killed everything.

I can't believe how GAY yagami is, I mean not only does he kill HIMSELF his name literally says he's gay. Read it backwards I am gay.Dominicius wrote:I liked Raistlin for the same reason I liked Light Yagami, even though to a lesser degree. They should have emphasized the evil of his actions more and the scenes where his brother was on the verge of killing him were annoying.
I really just made an account to say this

actually since they use syllables not letters such as romanji, his name backwards would be like this....
ya-ga-mi becomes
migaya
ya-ga-mi becomes
migaya

good read (Note to self Maxus sucks a barrel of cocks.)

I don't hate him. But he won't be asking me to join his game, nor will I ask him. And we're both OK with that, we ask different questions about gaming. Which means our answers are way off.

He posts nonsensical, rambling rants about how 2e is the One True Game.complains wrote:shadzar I'm new here I need to ask why do people hate you?
Which part of that sentence is the answer to your question is a matter of some debate.

Which dialect? There's 80-couple dialects of American English. I speak a pastiche that's a base of Virginia Tidewater with a touch of Appalachian added later in life.shadzar wrote:well i speak american, no useless U in words like color, and flavor, and schedule and school have the "sch" part pronounced the same, not with a silent c in it.Count Arioch the 28th wrote:We don't speak their nonsense scribble language here, mister! Back before tvtropes became a sperglord weeaboo hugbox Forgotten Realms had a pretty long article on how they screwed the pooch going from 3E to 4E. I wish I could remember all of it but it outlined total plot-related bullshit like the God of Justice believing the God of Slaughter over another good god to kill said good god. It was great.
God, I miss the days in which you were allowed to call out things like the Dresden Files and Eragon and Exalted and Komodo no Todoke and PokeGirls on their bullshit. I miss the days in which you were allowed to have snark beyond 'gentle fan snark that shows that I really like it'. I miss the days before nerds got so upset that 'bad' tropes kept showing up on their favorite series and they went out of their way to sanitize it. I miss the (non-sperging) conversational natter and banter.
Actually, Dragonlance had a pretty scathing TvTropes page at one point before it was sanitized. Considering that Forgotten Realms used to have its own page of Wallbangers I probably should have checked it out back when I had the chance. Oh well.

Even the change to "Headscratchers" is kind of insulting. It's fucking TVTROPES, not... not... a town hall meeting.

I've seen rants on Eragon and Exalted and haven't heard of most of the others, but I haven't seen a good rant on the Dresden Files. And if you wanted a love potion for blacks you'd dump in hot sauce, watermelon rinds, and fried chicken.

I never got this line of reasoning. Fried chicken and watermelon is delicious, any white person who can't admit this is a liar. Why do people make fun of black people for loving delicious food?Lago PARANOIA wrote:And if you wanted a love potion for blacks you'd dump in hot sauce, watermelon rinds, and fried chicken.

Oh Lord save me from this idiot conversation.Chamomile wrote:Because blacks have been scientifically proven to have a significantly different brain chemistry from whites, right?
1.) What 'brain chemistry' makes women behave like the stereotype?
2.) So it's okay to stereotype as long as it contains some accuracy in it?
3.) That even if something isn't a stereotype but empirically true (poor people commit more violent crime), it's okay to just bandy hurtful crap about while hiding behind the 'hey, don't blame me, it's the truth!' excuse.

It's actually stereotypically southern food. I believe the black exodus from the south post-Reconstruction introduced a lot of southern cuisine to the rest of the country, and so it's thought of as "black" food.Juton wrote:I never got this line of reasoning. Buggered if I know. Brains are complicated, and the nature v. nurture debate is something I don't want to get into and also irrelevant. There are differences between men and women on biological and cultural levels. Deal with it.Lago PARANOIA wrote: 1.) What 'brain chemistry' makes women behave like the stereotype?
Stereotypes are there for a reason. People within a certain demographic are more likely to act in a certain way, and unless we have more precise information to work from, it's generally better to assume the stereotype will hold rather than operating completely blind, particularly since we're not going to have any deeper information on the vast majority of people we meet. If you're overly concerned that someone's feelings might get hurt over that, then you've missed the point of cynicism.2.) So it's okay to stereotype as long as it contains some accuracy in it?
I'm sorry. Let me just make sure I understand. You're saying that we should ignore facts because we're afraid that someone's feelings might get hurt? That is the argument you're making?3.)
